Here's the ideal solution for anyone facing the dilemma on how to dress their son!

Should the baby boy wear a gown or a romper? Why not have both?

The romper has satin ribbon and pintuck detailing on the bodice front withBen complimenting satin buttons and a small sailor collar. The shorter style legs are gathered into narrow cuffs, and are attached to the bodice in stylish pleats.  The separate 'skirt' is plain apart from a row of pintuck detail above the hemline. The skirt is pleated into a narrow waistband which then adjoins the romper under a mock flap at the waist. This ensures all fastenings are concealed, making the outfit appear as one gown.  In this way, the child wears a gown for the baptism and then the skirt is then removed revealing the romper, which is to be worn for the rest of the celebrations.

The Cathedral Collection
Lincon Cathedral
The Cathedral Collection is a premium collection of limited edition christening wear inspired by the beautiful and magnificent architecture, stained glass and carvings to be found within some of the country’s finest cathedrals.  Due to the intensive hand embroidery detail, each gown takes a minimum of 50 hours to create.  It is therefore requested that at least four weeks notice is given for every order. These gowns are intended to become treasured family heirlooms and therefore the utmost care and attention to detail has been given at all times.

Little Doves
The featured Lincon Cathedral Gown has been lovingly created to honour the wonderful life of St Hugh, Bishop of Lincoln (1186-1200), and the man responsible for the rebuilding of Lincoln Cathedral after it was ruined by the great earthquake of 1185. The design has been inspired by St Hugh’s closest friend, that of a white swan. It contracted a lasting friendship for the saint, even guarding him while he slept.  He himself took inspiration from the swan when designing the roof vaults of St Hugh’s Choir.  The gown’s skirt has also been inspired by this concept; the cotton lawn undergown represents the body of the swan, with the fine organza overgown being the wings.  Both are joined together by cotton robings, which are delicately edged in satin buttonhole stitch to replicate the ribs of the roof vaulting.

The panels of embroidery and beadwork on the bodice front and the large rose on the centre skirt panel replicate some of the Cathedral’s marvellous stonework. The short, puff sleeves are made in cotton lawn and covered with organza. All exposed edges have been sealed with tiny French seams. The finished gown has a wonderful delicate aura of grace and beauty, so reflecting of the qualities of St Hughs’s swan.
